song of solomon 6:3

"I am my beloved's & my beloved is mine..."

and over 100 weddings, Nick and I find ourselves falling further in love with our calling as full-time wedding photographers.  I wanted to believe the butterflies I feel before every consultation, photo session, & wedding would eventually pass.  I believe now, if that day happens, the passion & desire to pour everything I have into my work will have been carried away with them.

"We cherish every friendship gained &
every experience had."

After 5 years...

I'll never forget sitting in our car, ready to head into our first wedding, and Nick grabbing my hand to say a quick prayer.  That prayer felt like an act of desperate longing to deliver the perfect experience & photos for our beloved clients.  Since then, the focus of that prayer before every wedding has matured into one for our couple's marriage, their families, & everyone we meet.

We cherish every friendship gained and every experience had.  Being entrusted in preserving your memories & legacy into timeless photos & heirloom books is an incredible honor, and one that we hold sacred.

We are Madeline & Nicholas Rome - wedding photographers, parents, Christ followers, & head-over-heels-in-love.

I once read as an adult that looking for a career or purpose isn't necessarily finding something new or unknown, but rather, rediscovering a passion from your past.  Leaving the school of my dreams when my scholarships ran out wasn't a high point in my life. The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design was my road to becoming a children's book illustrator.  As this dream started to fade, God brought a handsome man into my life, someone who would help me rediscover my purpose.

I broke up with him... I broke up with my future husband after only a few months! As much as I wanted to dislike him, I knew we were meant to be together. We don't have your usual "how we met" story, it's more like a "how we dated, broke up, and dated again" story. We attended the same church and after two months of awkward silence, I broke it with the spontaneous hug of the century. Like out of a movie, Nick struggled to get his words out as I walked away, leaving him speechless. Nine months later we were engaged, one year after that, we were Mr. & Mrs. Rome!

Remember that part about rediscovering your passion? Yes, there's a camera in this story, how'd you guess? But this one began with a broken camera that only worked when plugged into the wall. At 13 years old, I was determined to use it and show everyone how beautiful they truly are, and I wasn't going to let 3' of creative space (sans extension cord) stop me. It wasn't until my own Wedding Day dust had settled that Nick encouraged me to rediscover this passion of mine with a Christmas surprise of a fancy new camera.

In the meantime, our little world of two quickly grew to five within four years. We brought three sweet little blessings earthside, Isla, our strong-willed pop of glitter; Esme, our sweet and nurturing snuggle bunny; & Levi, our punky and spunky goofball. We bought our first fixer-upper home in Fort Atkinson, where we live now, and homeschool these little cutiepies. From endless story books, arts-n-crafts creations, movie nights, and endless hours spent outdoors...there truly is never a dull moment in The Rome family!

Nick traded in his tool box for a camera. It didn't take long for MRP to grow beyond myself. Nick had been shooting with me since the first wedding, but the time came when I needed his analytical prowess & perfectionism to fulfill the role of "business guru". Within a few years, this part time passion of mine had turned into a shared full-time mission. That mission? To serve our couples with the love & respect every marriage is so worthy of receiving. We are so thankful to all of our past couples who have believed and invested in us, and without whom, we would not be where we are today!

"Madeline Rome Photography moves to Historic Creamery Building in Fort" read the newspaper headline. We outgrew our office/homeschool room and found the perfect spot just minutes from our house, in a beautiful converted industrial building. The icing on the cake? We're above our favorite wedding venue and caterer! Here you'll find me meeting with couples, editing weddings, & planning all the pre-wedding details. You'll find Nick designing wedding books, websites, magazines, & making sure our business stays on the rails. We're so blessed and excited for what God has planned!
